Ankles and Mantles
Or is it Hips and Makers? (Kristin Hersh album, really good.)
So I fell on my ankle again today while bouldering. The crash pad is perfect for landing on, but if you land half on/half off it's hard on your ankle. Oh well. Pretty minor, but I did find out that you should stretch ankle sprains as soon as possible (and keept the swelling down). I guess it is more important to keep things loose so they heal properly. Also I'm supposed to build my ankle muscles more. Well, I don't think I'm hurting too bad in that department, but never hurts to add some ankle bulk. Heh. Ankle bulk.
In case you've never bouldered (but you do like to rock climb), this is my official plug for the sport. It's amazing. It's like the free weights of the climbing world. The moves are very powerful and require balance at the same time. So many of them are overhanging, which makes it really tiring. If you attempt a route and get muddled up, it's easy to burn all your energy half way through. Then you're too exhausted to finish. But the rewards for finishing is a pumped forearms and big rush.
