Orientation
I had my "first" day on the job today. It's not official, but I will soon be working for Sutus. I'm going to be an embedded software engineer so it's time to brush up on the finer points of UML (warning this link contains explicit geek material). This will be a refreshing alternative to my last startup experience at Comuniq. Comuniq was a great place to work, but there was no software development process in place. This is quite the opposite and will require discpline to learn and use.
The company is in North Vancouver, which is fine by me. It turns out to be quite a nice bike ride from my house. However, they are planning on moving to Burnaby. This is fine except the bike ride is boring. Today, for example, I rode my bike over the Burrard bridge, took the Seabus and rode the Lions Gate and went through Stanley Park to come home. Two bridges a park and a boat. Now that's a fun ride. Burnaby is just a slog through residential housing. Not bad, but not great.
