Speaking of Stink.
Refer to the previous post about The Eels song - The Other Shoe. In fact, put that song on first and come back and finish reading this post.
It turns out there are scummy people out there who wait for domain names that have an established traffic base to expire and then steal them! Yep. Happened to Brad. His now defunct website that used to live at www.invisibleinkstudios.org has been stolen by a squatter! In fact, some other scummy person even sells lists of websites like Brad's : http://www.cheaphostingdirectory.com/expireddomainswithtraffic.html
So basically the story is: Brad never gets a reminder that his website account will expire, it expires, and someone steals it. Oh the stink.

Reprints, New Posts and what is up.
So I don't like to circumvent my source for something cool, but not making the link to the original poster. But this is just too cool to not repost. NerdTV, brought to my attention by MutedNoise (refer to the links section), is some revolutionary PBS stuff. Not only is it licensed under Creative Commons (search mutednoise.com for some interesting discussions on this topic), but it finally brings into our living rooms (or headphones in the office) some of the people who have indirectly changed who we are. This show is all about the people who have founded the basic parts of technology that is now the cultural items of our everyday life.
Aas far as new posts go, I hate the pathetic disclaimer about being busy and not having time for posting. As if the 2 people that occasionally read my blog care, but I've been busy! Well, not really. Basically, my priorities for doing other things in life are higher then my blog. What does that statement say about my readers? Hmm. Ok, maybe that's why those lame excuse come to play, because I feel guilty for not keeping your plate full. Or maybe I'm just selfish and don't want to lose readership. Either way, I'm sorry. but I can't promise I won't do it again. Between work and an Indian summer life has been full. And fun. Last weekend was a relaxing make applesauce, visit my mom, go climbing and do some oyster shooters weekend. Last week was work till 8pm or go out on the town with friends week. So the blog shifted to low priority. Sorry readers. You know who you are. (wait, I wish I knew who you were...)
The last tidbit forthe night (or your morning, or lucnh break, or well, my tomorrow when I read over my blog vainly looking at my witty thoughts) is some lyrics from The Eels:
from www.songmeanings.net:
The Other Shoe
So take it for what you get out of it,but I love this song. Speaks most of my own thoughts while I have been living in a city of 2 million. Or maybe even more to the point, when I was living next to Wal-Mart in a city of 75,000.
Using results from RIAA-Radar, I recommend that you buy this album second-hand because they have chosen to use a label which is a member of the RIAA. Please support the band in other ways besides album purchases (which, ultimately don't support the band).
However, DEFINITELY pick up a copy of The Decemberists - Picaresque, because not only is it RIAA safe, it is a fantastic album! (If you don't believe me, read the linked review!)

The Other Shoe
It's a beautiful morning
The sky is black as ink
The city is sleeping still
And soon they'll wake up to the stink
And soon they'll wake up to the stink of life
passing them by
Wake up and smell the stink of their lifes
The garbage trucks are coming
To take your shit to the dump
You're smelling pretty now
Such a pretty little lump
A pretty little lump of flesh who's lost your way
Another night, another day
And when you sleep at night
Dreaming of the pretty things
Don't be too surprised when the telephone rings
I'll be sitting here
Waiting for the other shoe to drop

Waking Up Pt.2
It is interesting to me that that the hardest part of my life has become waking up. It used to be doing my thesis. Now it's waking up. I'm not sure which is harder.... I also notice that I can wake up happy, grumpy or just groggy. I'mnot sure why, but this morning I woke up grumpy. Sorry Dori.

Issue, problem, solution
Had a cool day yesterday. Just one of those days that I felt really good. While talking to one of my co-workers I had some ideas about these words:
"An issue is nebulous. It's a red flag. There could be a problem, but not necessarily."
"A problem is half the solution. If you have an accurate problem statement, the solution becomes nearly obvious."
"A solution is specific to a problem and the unspoken constraints. A designer of a solution naturally gravitates toward the solution that is 'comfortable'."
Also I hit the 240km mark today! I've ridden my bike 20 times to work this month!
